Forests in the Pistoia Apennine

The Pistoia Apennine mountains boast about 25000 acres of forests (formerly Foreste Pistoiesi ).

This forest district includes the areas located in the southern part of the Apennines with heights from 900 to 1700 m.s.l.

Flora and fauna are extremely varied and sometimes similar to alpine flora and fauna.

These forests are characterized by a moltitude of trails, in fact hiking, moutain biking and trail running are widely practiced in this area.

These forests are home to two mountain huts: Montanaro Hut and Porta Franca Hut.
